Nvidia already supplies many of the chips that power AI. Now it wants to own one of the biggest platforms where developers find and share AI models.
The $13 billion deal has caught the attention of US regulators.
And their concerns go well beyond the price tag.

Stop Being the Human Glue: Build a Company OS in Notion
In the beginning, the founder often is the system. They answer every question, approve every decision, remember every customer detail, and connect every moving part. That level of involvement may feel necessary early on, but over time it turns the founder into the companyās biggest bottleneck.
A lightweight company operating system helps replace constant interruptions with shared context. Instead of asking where the latest deck lives, what was decided in last weekās meeting, or who owns a launch, the team can self-serve from one central workspace. Weekly priorities, project owners, meeting notes, onboarding resources, customer context, and key decisions all have a clear home.
The result is not just better organization. It is more autonomy. When the team knows where to find information and how work moves forward, founders spend less time repeating themselves and more time making high-leverage decisions. A clear operating system gives early-stage companies the structure they need without slowing them down.
Spend less time answering repeat questions and more time building.

Nvidiaās $13 billion AI deal faces US scrutiny
The US Department of Justice is asking questions about Nvidiaās planned $12.93 billion acquisition of Hugging Face, according to Reuters.
The deal was announced in September. Now regulators are examining whether it could give Nvidia too much control over the AI industry.
Why is Hugging Face so important?
Think of it as a shared library for AI developers. It hosts more than 3 million AI models, serves 18 million users, and is used by over 200,000 companies.
Nvidia already dominates the chips that power advanced AI. Owning Hugging Face would give it a closer connection to the developers choosing which AI models, tools, and hardware to use.
Thatās especially valuable as Google, Amazon, and Microsoft build competing AI chips.
Thereās an interesting backstory, too.
Last year, Hugging Face reportedly rejected a $500 million investment from Nvidia, partly to protect its independence. Months later, it agreed to sell the entire company.
Now the DOJ wants to know whether Nvidia could favor its own technology on the platform.
Nvidia promises to keep Hugging Face open to competing chips and cloud services. No wrongdoing has been established.
The deal is expected to close in the first half of 2027, pending approvals.
But one question remains: Can Hugging Face stay open and fair to everyone once Nvidia owns it?
